Abbie Bowker is a Visual Arts teacher at Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, Vermont. She did her study at the University of Vermont where printmaking and painting were her most beloved classes. She also teaches art at her family property in Williston, managed by the Catamount Outdoor Family Center, a property that has been in her family since 1873. Her deep roots at her family farm, in her community and her state have shaped how she views the landscape and how she interprets that sense of place.
I love art. I love how it is both a reflection of our world and a part of our experience. I love how it tells as story and communicates beyond words.
I am able to find the beauty in the places and the moments that make those places and times unique. The media that I choose to work in is dependent on the experience and the result that I am hoping to achieve in my work. You will find that my portfolio has a variety of media including silkscreen prints (these hand pulled original works of art are not machine printed and are also known as serigraph prints), monotype prints (one of a kind print), watercolor, mixed media with pastel and some exploratory works in oil stick and oil paint.
On this site you will find my work grouped by category: illustrations, silkscreen prints, monotype prints, and paintings. I also have a News section which features what I am currently working on, publishing or exhibiting as well as a Resource section where you can find lesson plans linked to my book and information about author/artist visits.
